LOUISA
Alright Patrick, thanks. Riley and Julia are looking at me like I’m about to tell them whether or not the world is ending, so I’m gonna have to go update them. (PAUSE) Yeah, yes great. (PAUSE) Alright, will do. Speak soon. Yeah, bye. Bye bye.
JULIA
So? What’d he say?
LOUISA
He’s taking the case. Now we’ve got Stephen and Arthur both on board, and the case against Better Place storing the spirits, he thinks we’ve got a chance. He’s going to do it pro-bono. He wants his name on this case.
RILEY
Of fucking course he does, we’re making history!
JULIA
Hell yes. Look at us, liberating history and making it in one fell swoop, Louisa, I could fucking kiss you right now.
LOUISA
I mean-
RILEY
(OVERLAPPING) Mmm, let’s not.
JULIA
Some other time, maybe. We’ve got planning to do. What does Patrick want from us, in terms of the warehouse?
LOUISA
(ASIDE) I’ll hold you to that. (NORMAL VOLUME) Not sure yet, he wants to meet first. Your first trip into the warehouse was, uhhh, a little bit illegal, so we’re hoping we can find a way to NOT do it illegally- (TRAILS OFF)
[SFX: Phone buzzing quietly, muffled at first, then clearer as Riley pulls the phone out]
RILEY
Leo.
JULIA
You think? We could find a way to make them some kind of double-agent? It’s not impossible, maybe if we kept their identity secret-
RILEY
No, no. No, they’re calling me. Leo’s calling right now.
JULIA
Oh. Shit. Well, answer it. This could work in our favour.
[SFX: Buzzing stops, short pause after phone is answered]
LEO
(ON PHONE, GASPING FOR BREATH)
RILEY
Shit. What’s up?
LEO
(LONG PAUSE, THEN CRYING) Riley? I- I need… I need y- (UNINTELLIGABLE CRYING)
JULIA
Leo?
FRANK
(ON PHONE, QUIET AND DISTANT) Give me the phone, Leo. Let me.
LEO
I can’t-
FRANK
(TENDERLY) It’s okay, I’ll speak to them. (LOUDER) Mx. Matkins. Leonardo needs their friends right now.
RILEY
Are they okay? Have you hurt them?
FRANK
Of course not. They have not been harmed. They… They have spoken to the spirit of their brother, and it appears to have opened up some old wounds. They need support from somebody more… capable than I.
RILEY
Oh, Frank, you are really testing my ability to not be a bastard right now. (BEAT) But I need to make sure Leo’s okay. Where are you?
FRANK
The basement labs of the warehouse.
JULIA
And we can come?
FRANK
(SMARMY AS ALL HELL) Ah, Ms. Wilde. A pleasure as always.
JULIA
(IGNORING HIM) Without repercussions, without signing any NDAs, without being arrested for trespassing or some nonsense like that?
FRANK
Yes. (BEAT, THEN SINCERE, A LITTLE AWKWARD) Uh… Leo’s needs are the priority here.
RILEY
We’ll be there as soon as we can.
Closing theme begins
